Stromboli by night tour

A great family day out

Stromboli is the only volcano in Europe and one of the few in the world in permanent eruptive activity. It emerges from the sea with two peaks of a height of 920 m. The crater area consists of 3 active cones, whose volcanic activity is predominantly explosive, with the launch of lapilli and fragments of magma. The lava flows are channeled into a wide steep basin towards the sea, called “Sciara di Fuoco”. Most of the inhabitants (around 450), called “strombolani”, live in the small town of Ficogrande. At night, the intermittent flashes of Stromboli can be seen from a great distance. This is why the island has been called, since classical antiquity, “lighthouse of the Tyrrhenian”
